Mad Girl's Love Song
I am rediscovering hardcore music. Back in the 90's when. I was a teenager there was a big hardcore scene in Sweden, almost every little town had it's own. The straight edge and vegan movement took speed through bands like Earth Crisis, Snapcase, Strife and of course Sweden's own Refused.
I was one of the kids who loved the whole thing (but I never pledge allegiance to the X on my hands, I didn't X up at all, liked to have a drink or two haha).
After some years my interest faded, mostly as a result of the scene becoming too stereotype. I also wanted to widen my perspectives.
As an adult I have always come back to the music, I still love the intensity of it, the anger and hope it express. Hardcore music is also about finding your own way of living, away from expectations and other norms. As an adult you have to be reminded of that sometimes, it's not too late to rebel (even it's about petty things). I find comfort in that, especially durin periods of too much work when you feel like you're trapped running in a squirrel wheel.
The latest couple of days I have listened to a lot of (to me) new bands playing different kinds of hardcore music (the variety is big).
One band I have found out about is Roman Candle. I would describe their music as screamo. Try it, you might like it too:
